Bradley Cooper Hot

Bradley Cooper is no Ryan Gosling.

Despite People magazine's decision to name the "Hangover" star this year's "Sexiest Man Alive," many disagree.

An overwhelming amount of fans took to social networking sites after Wednesday's announcement, with some news organizations (including the Daily News) posting lengthy reasons as to why Gosling was more deserving of the title.

In addition to an online petition asking People to admit its "huge mistake," a Facebook page titled "Pro-Gosling People Magazine Protest" was created in an effort for fans of the hunky Canuck to voice their opinions.

Despite the rainy weather, about a dozen Gosling devotees appeared before People magazine's office building on Sixth Avenue Thursday afternoon wearing masks bearing the actor's famous face. A number of the protesters' signs gave humorous takes as to why the actor deserved the title: "Ryan Gosling's dog has a Mohawk. Bradley Cooper doesn't even have a dog."

"It's grievously unfair to Ryan and his fans that he wasn't chosen as this year's sexiest man alive," a protester tells the Daily News. "It also shows how out of touch People Magazine is with mainstream culture. If we can't trust People Magazine, then who can we trust?"

Some may even argue 2011 was the year of Gosling.

While Cooper excels at playing the functional drunk ("The Hangover") and guinea pig for a super-ADD drug ("Limitless"), he doesn't hold a torch to Gosling's resume this year.

In addition to his hit movies in recent months, the actor stepped in to break up a street fight in New York City, then shrugged off the daring move by humbly saying he was "embarrassed" by the attention.

Regardless of the outrage, People is firm on its decision to feature Cooper on their cover.

"We stand by our man!" a rep for the magazine tells the News. "Bradley Cooper is the whole package. He's gorgeous, talented, brainy, loves his mom, can cook up a storm and speaks fluent French! Who can argue with that?"
